Equity Chart

1. Introduction

Different boards will hit different parts of each player's range in subtly different ways. Understanding this is essential. With PocketSolver's Equity Chart, you can compare how each portion of each player's range is likely to win the pot at showdown (equity) and determine who is ahead.

2. How Does It Work?

• X-Axis: Percentile of the hand within the player's range
• Y-Axis: Equity of a particular hand

Hands are sorted by equity, from worst to best. As you move along the X-axis, hands with progressively higher equity are plotted. This is done for both OOP and IP players, allowing you to compare distributions side by side.

3. What Are the Axes?

• X-Axis: Represents where a hand falls within the player’s range based on equity percentile.
• Example: AcAh might be in the 99th percentile, so it will appear near the far right of the X-axis.
• Y-Axis: Represents the equity of each hand.
• Example: AcAh has the highest equity and will appear at the top of the Y-axis.

4. How Do I Interpret This?

An equity distribution chart is a fundamental tool in GTO (Game Theory Optimal) solvers. It visually represents the expected equity of hands across different scenarios, helping players and solvers make mathematically sound decisions.

Key Uses:

1. Identify Strengths and Weaknesses of Ranges

• Highlights which hands are strong, medium, or weak in a given situation.
• For example, premium hands cluster at the top, while marginal hands cluster in the middle.
• Helps evaluate whether a range is balanced or polarized.

2. Guide Bet Sizing and Strategy Adjustments

• Hands with high equity may justify larger bets.
• Hands with low equity may require bluffing or folding.
• Allows players to see if their strategy aligns with the theoretical optimum.

3. Detect Exploitability and Range Imbalances

• Reveals if a range has too many low-equity hands in aggressive spots.
• Highlights imbalances so strategies can be adjusted to maintain GTO consistency.
